Efter anden verdenskrig lancerede Renault sit bud p\u00e5 hvad man regnede med Europa manglede. Det var en relativ lille, let og \u00f8konomisk bil kaldet 4CV. Renault ramte nok rigtigt med 4CV for den blev hurtigt popul\u00e6r og var med til at starte motorsporten op efter krigen og p\u00e5 grund af de gode k\u00f8reegenskaber faktisk temmelig succesfuldt p\u00e5 trods af sin beskedne motorkraft. De f\u00f8rste par \u00e5rgange af 4CV havde en 18 HK motor p\u00e5 760 cm3 og det bet\u00f8d at bilen skulle deltage i 750 – 850 cm3 (eller mere) klasserne. For at forbedre konkurrenceevnen i motorsport tog Renault det for den tid det meget us\u00e6dvanlige skridt at reducere motorens volumen! Der var bare tale om um\u00e6rkelige 10 cm3 som bet\u00f8d deltagelse i 600 – 750 cm3 klasserne og fra at v\u00e6re den mindste i klassen blev den s\u00e5 den st\u00f8rste! Volumen reduktionen blev fulgt af en lidt h\u00f8jere tunings grad af motoren s\u00e5 den kom til at levere 21 HK.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Toppen i motorsportsm\u00e6ssig sammenh\u00e6ng er 4CV R1063. Igen var Renault front l\u00f8ber for R1063 var det man i dag kalder en kitcar racer. Det betyder at man k\u00f8ber en standard vogn og et fabriks tunings kit som indeholder de ting som skal bruges. Fabrikken byggede ca. 80 biler selv men de var kun en mindre del af det totale antal R1063 som eksisterede. Der er tale om en total l\u00f8sning s\u00e5 ud over motoren f\u00e5r k\u00f8reegenskaberne ogs\u00e5 et l\u00f8ft s\u00e5 de matcher de 38 HK fra motoren. Man kunne v\u00e6lge gearkasser med b\u00e5de 4 og 5 gear som erstatning for standard 3 trins gearkassen.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I sin motorsports karrierer skaffede 4CV en lang r\u00e6kke sejre og klasse sejre blandt andet i Rallye Monte Carlo og p\u00e5 Le Mans.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
